Thanks Maven, for reminding me that there was another blog. :)

Life is a taaaaaaaad busy right now. Weird, since I am officially without a job since last week. The end was rather ugly, at least on the Swiss side, so be it.

I actually have an interview in... 4 hours. Sounds like a perfect job, but I am having trouble motivating myself. Partially because I don't know what I want to do when I grow up, partially because I have "starting on my own" in the back of my mind, and probably also because working from home for a year made me plain lazy.

Starting on my own sounds great, until I am honest with myself and question if I have the stamina. Loads of extra money from the State, but still. Ideal really would be a regular job, professionalizing what I do, then possibly think about my own company in a year or two.

What is the first thing you need to do when being uinemployed? Right, spend 1000$ on a new sewing and embroidery machine. Which I am loving to bits, it arrived 2 days ago. And I am not really unemployed yet - that will take another month.

Life sucks

Was promised a contract 5 weeks ago, which is why I didn't apply anywhere else. Guess what - that contract is off the table. Or better said, it might still be an option in 2 months.

They basically want me to carry all the risk. I am supposed to start the project now, prove that the new product in a new market can be sold - and then hope for some success that justifies offering me a contract end of June, when my regular contract ends.

I told them to stuff it, more or less.

The least I need is a 6-month contract for 32 hours, giving me time to set up the new company and possibly hand over my Swiss tasks to whoever they are hiring locally.

So what next? No clue.

I have applied to another job last week, they will start inviting for interviews end of May. Hopefully, that will work out. Other than that, I am looking... but I don't like what I see. Too many jobs in industries that I don't want to work in, too many positions that I know I would hate.

So off to our unemployment agency next week, since they need to be informed ahead of time as well. And then fight like mad to avoid jobs that I really don't want to do.

Fuck.

The press sickens me

Germany has its own set of casting shows. Restaurant owners, popstars, pop groups, models, jobs, interns - it seems that we have castings for everything on TV. A long, long time ago, a girl group that was the first pop band to be selected that way, and they went on to be Germany's most successful pop band ever.

They split up, partially got back together last year, and are currently dominating the news again. It involves sex an AIDS - a surefire way to make headlines.

One of the girls has HIV. And one of her ex-boyfriends claims she infected him. Awful story. Obviously awful enough to disclose her identity to the press. Disclose every sordid detail. And incarnate her.

All I can think right now is poor girl.

I am aghast that the legal institutions are calling press conferences, disclosing not only her name but details as to when she was put in jail (right before a gig), why she is kept in jail without bond (apparently she is a dangerous weapon and will go outinfecting hundreds of people if let out), and hundreds of other, personal details.

She is just a girl who happened to sing in a casting show a long time ago. A girl that is trying to get back her life, while battling HIV. And somehow, that negates every single one of her rights.

Why is the "right to information" larger than the right to privacy?
